Hi — My name is Matt Higgins.
I write occasionally on this blog to share some thoughts — sometimes devotional, sometimes doctrinal.
I don’t have any impressive credentials.
No letters behind my name.
I probably don’t even live up to my own
exhortations posted here.
Some of the posts deal with pastors and church
leaders. What gives me the right to comment
or exhort these guys?
Well, I used to be a Youth and College Pastor
at a small church in Southern California.
So I do have some experience in that area.
It was a great experience — but I’m not going
to define my life by it.
Simply put — It doesn’t matter if I’m a
a pastor or a plumber (thanks goodness I’m not!)
What matters in life is that I am in a right
relationship with Jesus. Any ministry -
casual or vocational flows out of that
relationship.
In Exodus 34:6 — God defined Himself.
He didn’t define Himself by His great deeds
or his position.
He defined Himself by His great love.
I choose to define myself not by my
deeds (or lack thereof).
Not my by title (or lack thereof).
Or my responsibilities.
But by the love of Christ for me.
I’ve got a great little family:
My wife, – Jen and my daughter Gemma.
My family is alot of fun.
We have great adventures together.
Lots of laughs and lots of wisdom
come from these two women.
I hope you are blessed by what you read here.
In Christ,
Matt Higgins
